Charles A.Carlson, 74, of Berthoud died March 21, 2008, at Longmont United Hospital. He was born June 12, 1933, in Longmont to Charles and Ottilia (Olson) Carlson.

Charles graduated from Roosevelt High School in Johnstown in 1951. He then joined the U.S. Air Force.

Charles married Barbara Bloom on June 6, 1958.

Charles farmed in the Mead and Longmont area winning several awards including the High Ten Best Grower award for his sugar beets. After moving to Berthoud in 1969 he owned and operated C-C Trucking until 2005. He also restored his 1968 GMC pickup that won several awards

Charles was a member of the Sirloin Club, The Little Britches Rodeo Association and the Colorado Cattle Feeders Association.

Charles loved his family and watching his grandchildren. He also enjoyed farming, his horses, and reading.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Barbara on June 6, 2000, and a sister Lillie Carlson.

Charles is survived by two sons: Charles D. Carlson of Berthoud, and Jeff Carlson and his wife Suzanne of Platteville, CO; a daughter Debra Cushman and her husband Steve of Torrington, Wyoming; a sister Edith Peterson of Brush, CO; five grandchildren: Joann Hopkins and her husband Josh, Matthew W. Cushman, Casey A. Cushman, Dustin C. Carlson and Samantha L. Carlson; two great-grandchildren: Brook and Peyton Hopkins, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2008, with family present to receive friends at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 27, 2008, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Interment at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.
